i've always gotten the question, "how did you begin practicing yoga?" i've always forgotten the name of the video i used or the woman that was in it. (i really liked her, though). well, i was just sitting here messing around and decided to google the name of the video. ((thank the gods for google, yeah?)) anyhoo, i thought i'd post this real quick to share. this is the video i started out with over 10 years ago! i finally found it. lol. i still do this same routine, to this day, only i've added…

I would like any feedback you have on any of the resources listed below. If you are familiar with any of them, what do you think of them? They are all similar but they all are unique in some way. Do you have any suggestions of books or DVDs that I might draw from in the future that you like?
Since I am getting older, I am increasingly concerned about my health and am always looking for the best ways to take care of myself, inside and out. I want to head off inevitabilities, like menopause, as w…

Last Sunday I gave a Yoga and Meditation Workshop in the Köln Yoga Vidya Center (that's in Germany). There were about 50 participants, who were highly interestet. I made them work hard in the Yoga class, let them relax deeply in Final Relaxation. The Mantra-Chanting was enthusiastic. The talk afterwards was on "Vedanta", the philosophy of the Absolute.

Whew, I did it! The morning of the surgery I got up, did my yoga, taking as long as I wanted to stretch out my muscles and relax. I was really focusing on my breathing and my thigh muscles, since I knew there would be pain and trauma. I now know that doing this on a regular basis prior to surgery really helped me afterwards! My swelling has gone down quickly compared to others having this same surgery, and my range of motion with the wrangled muscles (my hip to my toes) is much greater than it w…

Whew, I missed last week and my whole body bunched up and revolted. I feel like I'm also more sensitive to what I consume than I ever have been, or at least I notice it now! But I went to yoga therapy this morning and feel much better now, some of the pain that had built back up has been relieved, and I feel inspired to keep using what I've learned. My surgery is scheduled for July 15th and it seems so far away right now. Carrie mentioned a juice fast and I think I'll do smoothies for the rest o…

My 2nd class was today. I could definitely stretch farther, and it all felt a little easier, but I'm really feeling it now in my hip! Perhaps I overdid the rotation just a bit, huh?! But the energy level is good, and I know I feel better than I would if I hadn't gone :-) Stuck to my lower calorie and healthier diet today too, had a green smoothie for supper (broccoli, salad greens, orange, apple, a bit of vanilla soymilk and cherry juice with ice). I practiced sitting yoga style when I drove tod…

Aura@! for you!!! Ok, if all this works you will have your very first video by me to YOU about the Ujyaii breathing I was telling you about. It's trying to load now. If it doesn't work out so good, it can only get better! Actually there are a couple applications on ning that haven't worked so well. One is the video uploading. The other being the NOTES of interest. I've tried adding some in the past week but have been unable to do so.
We'll see????!!!

The yoga made me feel so good!, so I think I overdid my other activities and was hurting last night. Walking is not so bad, but standing is not good. I went on a tour of an art studio, historic printing press, and mansion yesterday and in effect, I stood on one leg for 1-1/2 hours (can't distribute weight evenly on both hips when standing), and ended up tossing and turning last night. I did my yoga breathing and some prone postures in bed, half asleep, and it helped. Now that I know a little mor…

Last night before class, I realized that I had pretty much put my practice aside for many reasons. Probably mostly because I was going to school 4 nites a week since January. What I discovered is that I was still teaching and doing simple asanas, but I wasn't expanding my practice at all.
Weirdly before class, I was practicing my headstand series and could do things I had NEVER done before. I felt as though the depth of my pose couldn't be stopped!!! Wow~~ can you even imagine!? Not only did I…

I don't know about all of you but as much as I love my "twitter" and my online community, I need to step away for a few days at times...it really doesn't always make me feel good. I get the BUZZ feeling; the frenzie of getting the NEWS out about yoga. And just being on the computer can generally bring me down or just plain exhaust me.
Thursday even I started a NOVEL. Yep I'm reading "Chasing Windmills." A novel by the author that wrote "Pay it Forward." It's a nice diversion from living day to…
