Whew, I did it! The morning of the surgery I got up, did my yoga, taking as long as I wanted to stretch out my muscles and relax. I was really focusing on my breathing and my thigh muscles, since I knew there would be pain and trauma. I now know that doing this on a regular basis prior to surgery really helped me afterwards! My swelling has gone down quickly compared to others having this same surgery, and my range of motion with the wrangled muscles (my hip to my toes) is much greater than it would have been otherwise. I also feel more confident because of this, and confident for my continued recovery and expansion into yoga, and a healthful life of mobility and independence.
On Day 9 Post-Surgery, I ventured out to a local arts reception where my bf won an award, and then to a free concert (just next door to my loft at the courtyard of the historic Majestic Theatre) of the Grammy nominated kora player Mamadou Diabate, compelling, mesmerizing, energetic rich West African sounds --incredibly beautiful evening. And there was Carrie B!, looking beautiful and happy - her face told me right away that she'd gotten a dream job! OH - I am going to miss my Carrie!!!
But I know that we will stay in touch, and I'll continue to be inspired by her! All my Best, to you, Carrie!
love, ellen
